Morten Olsen is one of Danish handball’s biggest profiles. But on Thursday, Danish TV2 revealed that he is leaving his club, GOG, with immediate effect.
Morten Olsen has had time to play in clubs such as Hannover and Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, but since 2020 he has been back in the parent club GOG, where he has been an important pawn as the talent factory has established itself at the top of Danish handball.
There he now looked to be doing his last season, when he announced that his career was over after the season and that he would take over the coaching job in Danish Ringsted. An assignment that was, however, canceled when GOG announced that it had extended the agreement with Olsen instead.
But on Thursday morning, Danish TV2 stated that Olsen is leaving GOG with immediate effect, something that the teammates must have been informed about after the team’s victory against Porto on Wednesday night.
According to the information, Olsen has thus made his last match in GOG, but neither Olsen himself nor the club’s director Kasper Jørgensen has wanted to comment on the information. But according to TV2, the decision has been made after a turbulent autumn at the club both on and off the pitch.
It is still unclear whether Olsen will leave to play in another team.
