Earlier on Saturday, Jim Gottfridsson’s club Pick Szeged announced that his contract had been terminated. The player himself had remained silent – until now. In a statement on Instagram, the playmaker addresses the decision, which he claims was made unilaterally by the club. “I consider the club’s procedure to be unlawful,” Gottfridsson writes.
It was earlier on Saturday that Pick Szeged confirmed that Gottfridsson’s three-year deal with the club, signed ahead of this season, had been terminated.
Now, Gottfridsson has issued an official statement on Instagram, where he states, among other things, that the termination was a unilateral decision by the club, expresses his disappointment, and explains that he and his legal team will work to ensure that nothing similar can happen to any other handball player in Hungary.
