Barça close to Fis deal – replacement for Mem?

According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona are close to signing Spanish talent Marcos Fis as a long-term replacement for Dika Mem, who will leave the club in 2027.

Barcelona have moved quickly to secure a successor after Dika Mem decided not to renew his contract and instead join Füchse Berlin in the summer of 2027.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants are now close to reaching an agreement with Marcos Fis, who is expected to arrive in 2027 and sign a three-year deal running until 2030.

The 18-year-old right back is seen as the player who will directly replace Mem in the squad from the 2027/28 season. Barcelona have been monitoring Fis closely after his rapid development at BM Granollers and with the Spanish national team.

No deal is signed

Mundo Deportivo reports that the deal is not yet formally signed, but that both parties are finalising the details, with sources suggesting the agreement is all but completed.

Fis would join on a free transfer when his current contract expires in 2027, the same summer Mem departs for Berlin. This would allow Barça to secure a high-potential replacement without a transfer fee, while maintaining their competitiveness at the top of European handball.

Barcelona had also considered other options, including Portuguese star Kiko Costa, but the financial demands made that deal difficult. In contrast, Fis represents both a long-term investment and a more economically viable solution.

If completed, the move would mark a significant step in Barça’s future planning, with Fis lined up as the next key figure on the right back position following Mem’s departure in 2027.
