The Faroe Islands have produced a number of high-quality handball players in recent years, and now the next rising star appears to be on the way. Boas Ellefsen á Skipagøtu, the younger brother of Elias á Skipagøtu, delivered 13 goals yesterday in the Faroes’ opening victory against Finland.
The Faroe Islands have surged like a rocket in the handball world in recent years. Both at senior and youth level, the island nation has been competing with some of the biggest countries. Elias á Skipagøtu, who plays his club handball for Kiel, is the team’s biggest star.
But now it seems the next playmaker is ready to step onto the European stage, and it is none other than Skipagøtu’s younger brother, Boas Ellefsen á Skipagøtu. At just 16 years old, he was completely dominant as the Faroe Islands defeated Finland 38–31.
With 13 goals and a style of play reminiscent of his brother, he leads the attack with both quality and finesse. The Faroe Islands’ next match is tonight at 19:30, when they face significantly tougher opposition in Spain.
