It was two completely different semi-finals in the U17 World Cup. Spain and Egypt fought a close battle, with Egypt winning 28–31. In the other matchup, Germany ran all over Qatar, 39–22.
It was semi-final time yesterday in the U17 World Cup. Germany were clear-cut favorites going into the match against Qatar. The Germans, who had won all their previous games by more than 20 goals, made quick work of the semi-final.
With a well-functioning offense, the Germans scored 21 goals in the first half, grabbing a seven-goal lead. They didn’t take their foot off the gas in the second half and extended their advantage even further, winning 39–22.
Germany advanced to the final without really being challenged, but they will face a much tougher opponent in the battle for gold. Egypt put on a class performance, beating Spain 28–31.
The game was a tight contest — at halftime, there was nothing separating the teams, 12–12. But in the second half, Egypt showed great spirit. Despite going down by two goals, they kept fighting and went on a 5–0 run to take the lead.
They managed to hold on all the way to the end and secure an impressive place in the final. The final will be played tomorrow at 20:15, with the bronze medal game taking place a few hours earlier at 17:45.
