The Hungarian league is approaching the start of the season, and with the help of expert Ibolya Szekeres we take a closer look at the Women’s league. Who will win the league? Which player will stand out?
Ibolya Szekeres is a Hungarian living in Norway and during the last 15 years she have covered handball events working (always as an enthusiast, not as an employee) for several online written press: handball.hu, cunder.hu, timeoutmag.com, handballmagasinet.no.
Which team will win the league this season and why?
– Győri Audi ETO KC- the best team in the world currently, with stabile economical background, a wide rooster, strategical planned both with pregnancies and other possible issues.
Which player will stand out?
– This is a compact team with a wide squad, with players on the highest level. This is the team where there is no one will become a top goalscorer. But if I have to pick somebody that would be one of this trio: Kari Brattset Dale/Hatadou Sako/Dione Housheer.
Which player will have her big breakthrough?
– Every player in the team had already their big breakthrough, but I hope Helena Elver will follow the footsteps of Oftedal on that position and will become a classical playmaker for the team.
Which player, team or event will be the most disappointing?
– In my opinion Mette Tranborg will be a disappointment for FTC, she is not that huge profile as the club and the supporters are expecting to be. As a team I think DVSC will be a fiasco in CL, where they will participate with a wild card as numer 4 in the Hungarian League.
What are you looking forward to the most?
– I am looking forward to the EHF Final4 in Budapest and the ETO-FTC matches throughout the season.
