Glauser´s penalty saves behind Ferencvaros cup triumph

The Hungarian cup was once again ended up as a title duel between Ferencvaros and Györi ETO KC. In front of a full house in Tatabanya, a full hour wasn’t enough to separate the teams and Ferencvaros could secure the win in penalty shots.

The hero of the game performed really sharp in the seven meter session. After allowing the Györ´s first penalty by Dionne Housheer in the net, Laura Glauser decided that was enough and saved four shots in a row to make Ferencvaros four time in a row cup champion.

Emily Bölk and Katrin Klujber joined the celebrations with the two goal that managed to return the trophy to ”Fradi”.

Except for the penalty brilliance, Glauser was needed to get Ferencvaros back into shape after a four-goal deficit after ten minutes and allowing for a great comeback after the break.

Györ´s keeper Sandra Toft was as a close as it could be match winner for the other side. Györ fell by the smallest of margins, the lack of attacking options at the very end of ordinary playing time meant that Ferencvaros got a slight upper hand into the penalty shootout.

Budaörs won the third place  game, 22–18 versus Mosonmagyarovar. The league title will very likely have an equally tight outcome. Currently Györ is three points ahead of Ferencvaros but the chasing team can turn it around via two matches in hand. The spring duel on May 10, in the third to last round has potential as another title clash between the star teams.
