Tomas Mrkva moves to Leipzig

Tomas Mrkva has found another club adress in Bundesliga. Next summer, the veteran goalkeeper starts on a new two-year deal with SC Leipzig, according to the club webpage.

Mrkva has played for German club for nearly 15 years and found his way to Kiel in 2022. More than 150 national games, one league title and a final four appearance in Champions League will also benefit Leipzig from the upcoming season.

– I am delighted to be able to play at the highest level in the Handball Bundesliga for another two years. Leipzig is a very well-positioned team and the overall package simply convinced me. I want to help the team and contribute my experience to achieve the best possible outcome together, says the 35-year-old to the club website.

Mrkva will join forces with Domenico Ebner between the posts, while Kristian Saeveras leaves the club after five years.

– With Tomas we are getting a very good Bundesliga goalkeeper with a lot of international experience. We are convinced that he will form a good goalkeeping team with Domenico Ebner, both personally and athletically, says sports director Bastian Roscheck.
