Tim Hornke has been a solid force in SC Magdeburg for several seasons. The elite engagement come to a stop as the 35-year-old has decided to end his professional career after the season.
Magdeburg´s homepage gives further insight to Hornke´s decision.
– Over the years, Magdeburg has become much more than just a place to play handball. I feel at home here, I am rooted in the city and its community, and I am very happy to continue living here even after my playing days are over. It means a lot to me to be able to end my career right here. Now I simply want to enjoy the rest of the season and make it something truly special, says the right wing.
Hornke arrived in Magdeburg 2010. After an excursion to TBV Lemgo Lippe (2014-19), he was reunited with the top club with the title success in all sorts of domestic and international competitions to follow.
The barrier of 1 500 Bundesliga goals is well within reach, Hornke has 1 491 to his name at the moment.
– Tim embodies what SC Magdeburg is all about – passion, team spirit, and above all, reliability. We are incredibly grateful to him for everything he has done for this club over the past years and wish him and his family all the best for the future: health, happiness, and success in everything that lies ahead, says the coach Bennet Wiegert to the club website.
