Tight race in 2. Bundesliga – Hüttenberg tied with Minden

TV 05/07 Hüttenberg remains very much in contention for the direct spot to advance to Bundesliga. A decisive win over GWD Minden brought Hüttenberg tied on point with the rival team.

With one game in hand Minden had a good chance to improve their chances further in the top battle. But Hüttenberg took advantage of better attacks and pushed for a well-earned win in front of the home crowd.

Tristan Kirschner shone with seven goals and Simon Böhne performed some impressive saves as Hüttenberg pulled away during the final 15 minutes. Minden´s away hope crashed when the team added one technical fault to another and failed to score for six minutes until the final whistle with 28–23 on the board.

Minden keeps the second spot via better goal difference.

– In the early stages, you could tell that it was a high-pressure game for both teams, one they perhaps haven’t played very often. Otherwise, we defended well in the first half, but we lacked the courage to go deep up front.

– GWD Furthermore, having a deep squad and being able to provide better support off the bench paid off again today. Everyone who came on today did their job very well, and so, as so often, I’m very proud of my team, said the winning coach Stefan Kneer to Hüttenberg´s webpage.
