Omar Ingi Magnusson signs new contract

The Magdeburg fans will get to enjoy Icelandic star Omar Ingi Magnusson for three more years. The right back has extended his contract by two years, until 2028.

Magnusson, who joined Magdeburg in 2020 from Danish side Aalborg, has been a key player during the club’s recent successful years. In his tenure with the club Magdeburg has won both European trophies, while also becoming Bundesliga champions in 2022 and 2024, with Magnusson being named the league’s best player. Now the German club has secured its star right back for another three years.

– We are very pleased that we managed to keep Magnusson for several more years. With his outstanding qualities, he fits perfectly into our system, says head coach Bennet Wiegert to club website.

Magnusson has already scored 102 goals this season, with Magdeburg sitting third in the Bundesliga. In the Champions League they qualified for the final four, where Magnusson will get a chance to win another title with the German side.
