According to the local newspaper’s information, Ekberg was going to be presented in connection with tonight’s home match against Alingsås HK, and that was the case.

Long contract

Just before the game, Ystad went out and confirmed the news to Ystads IF, and thus one of the next season’s biggest prestige signings was a fact. At the same time, it was also confirmed that Ekberg has signed a contract that runs until the summer of 2027.

– I am very happy to get the chance to come home and play at home again. It has been a fantastic trip abroad with many unforgettable moments and successes. But the journey is not over yet, I am still very hungry to win titles and I will do everything I can so that we will be there and fight for the noblest denominations in the coming years, says Niclas Ekberg to the club’s website.

Niclas Ekberg announced earlier in the autumn that he chose to end his national team career and is thus not in Glenn Solberg’s squad for the Euros.

Kiel has already completed the signing of Lemgo’s Lukas Zerbe, as an intended long-term option at right-back.
