It has been reported for some time, and now it’s official: Viggo Kristjánsson will be a Flensburg player. The Icelandic right back will join his new team for the 2027/28 season.
– In Viggó, we are gaining a player who combines experience, intelligence and efficiency, says Managing Director Holger Glandorf on the club’s website.
In recent weeks, rumours have circulated that both Viggo Kristjánsson and Renārs Uščins were on their way to Flensburg. Now, the first of the two has been confirmed, with the Icelandic international presented by the club today.
– Viggó has proven over several years in the HBL that he is one of the most effective players in his position. His finishing quality and experience will be very valuable for our game, says Holger Glandorf.
Kristjánsson, who currently plays for Bittenfeld, has established himself as a top-level right back. He will join Flensburg ahead of the 2027/28 season.
– SG Flensburg-Handewitt is a great club with exceptional fans who support the team with enormous passion and loyalty. Even from the outside, you can sense the special atmosphere here, says the player.
As for Uščins, nothing has been made official yet by Flensburg. However, with several reports suggesting that the deal is done, it should only be a matter of time before it is confirmed.
