HC Erlangen are one step closer to securing Bundesliga handball next season. At the other end of the table, Gummersbach secured European handball next season after defeating Flensburg away.
Gummersbach has missed out on Europe since the 2011/2012 season. This year, with Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson at the helm, the Germans secured a spot in the European League qualifications. After yesterday’s win against Flensburg with a score of 28–34, the former giants secured sixth place in the league.
At the bottom of the table, things are still up for grabs. HC Erlangen won, after much drama, against Füchse Berlin and are now two points ahead of Bergischer.
To survive, Bergischer needs to win against Flensburg in the last round, while Erlangen has to lose against Hannover.
