In 2017 the Croatian pivot Ilja Brozovic left THW Kiel for an adventure in Hannover-Burgdorf. During his time in Hannover he has been an important piece of the team that has been an established part of the German first tier.
But during the Tuesday the club confirms that Brozovic leaves after the season – despite having a contract that ran over the 2024/25 season.
– Ilja is a very meritorious player who has helped our club for seven years. That’s a long time and is certainly no longer given in today’s sports. We are grateful to him for his commitment and want a lot more together until the end of the season, says the sporting director Sven-Sören Christophersen about the departure on the club’s website.
Hannover-Burgdorf says that the cause of the exit is that they needs “new impetus for the future”.
– I had seven wonderful years here in Hanover with my family and can look back on many special experiences. I am very grateful to the club for the trust they have placed in me during that time. It will certainly not be an easy farewell after the last home game, even if that’s still half a year away, says Brozovic himself.
