Bundesliga: Close defeat for Eisenach against Lemgo Lippe

The lowest ranked teams in Bundesliga experienced another grueling evening in their Thursday performances. HBW Balingen-Weilstetten finished four goals behind Frisch Auf Göppingen, while ThSV Eisenach couldn´t follow TBV Lemgo Lippe with a 24–26-loss at the end.

The situation in the table seems getting worse by the week for the two teams most in danger of relegation.

Eisenach has been in play and lost seven times in a row, Balingen-Weilstetten in the very last place stand without a single point since mid-september.

Frisch Auf Göppingen offered a tempting opportunity to end the mission for victory, but the home side relied on solid attacks in the second half. With Josip Sarac and Marcel Schiller (five goals each) there was nothing Balingen could do despite Oddur Gretarssons (eleven goals in total) well executed penalties.

Eisenach came close in a surprise attempt in Lemgo Lippes arena and Manuel Zehnder, overall topscorer, hit the goal seven times for the chasing team. Eisenach even had a small lead with 15 minutes to go, but Lemgo finished strong for two points. Samuel Zehnder won the duel between the Swiss national players with nine goals.

Balingen-Weilstetten have five points so far, two less than Eisenach. TBV Stuttgart another two points ups the lifeline for team 17 and 18 in Bundesliga 2023/24.

Frisch Auf Göppingen–HBW Balingen-Weilstetten 32–28 (13–10)
