SC Magdeburg strengthened their third position, using one of the games in hand compared to the other top teams. ThSV Eisenach still managed to scare the favourite, Magdeburg had to push hard until a last-minute winning goal by Omar Ingi Magnusson.
Füchse Berlin leads the top flight with 50 points, MT Melsungen trails on goal difference. For Magdeburg the two-pointer Thursday evening led to 47 points and a prospering possibility to come from behind in the final part of the season.
The general level of play needs to improve though, Magdeburg had surprisingly large problems fending off Eisenach in a true thriller.
Marko Grgic, overall number one goalscorer was indeed part of the problem for the home team. The left back concluded an amazing performance with an equaliser, 30–30 was Grgic´s 15th successful attempt.
Magdeburg had an offensive threat in Omar Ingi Magnusson. Having recently extended his contract, Magnussons energy was visible as he performed well both from distance and the penalty line.
Gisli Thorgeir Kristjansson provided the seven meter opportunity that Magnusson converted for victory with 55 seconds remaining, Eisenach couldn’t respond and was defeated with a technical fault in the final attack.
