Füchse Berlin will be without Andreas Palicka for the next two to four weeks after the Swedish goalkeeper suffered a hand injury against Bergischer HC.
Palicka was forced off after just 13 minutes of Sunday’s Bundesliga clash in Düsseldorf. The 40-year-old goalkeeper got his left hand to a powerful shot from Bergischer’s Fynn Hangstein, but suffered a cut to the palm of his hand in the process.
The injury required treatment at hospital later that evening, and further examinations on Monday confirmed that Palicka is expected to be sidelined for two to four weeks. That means the veteran will miss Füchse Berlin’s upcoming trip to Egypt for the IHF Men’s Club World Championship, where the German side will compete as last season’s EHF Champions League finalists.
Palicka will be replaced in the squad by 22-year-old Frederik Höler. The goalkeeper came through Füchse’s youth system and has been part of their cooperation with 1. VfL Potsdam since 2024. Höler has already made several appearances for Füchse Berlin and will now join the squad for the Club World Championship alongside Lasse Ludwig.
“It’s a quick turnaround for me, but I’m happy that I can help Füchse straight away. Egypt will be a great experience and I’ll give everything I can to contribute,” Höler said.
