Valero Rivera reached a milestone during the weekend. The wing player in HBC Nantes became the second player in history to score 2 000 goals in the French league, according to Starligue in social media.
Rivera´s accolade has increased during the season. Playing for Nantes in 13 season the left wing and team captain broke the 500-game-mark bearing the ”H” jersey. After extending his contract over 2026 another historic day meant that the 40-year-old summed up 3 000 plus goals in all competitions.
In the Sunday game against Fenix Toulouse, Rivera added excitement to a quite uneven game by scoring goal number 2000 in Starligue. A total of four Rivera-goals, two from the wing position and two from the penalty line helped Nantes secure the win by 32–27 and confirm the second position in the table.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain got some revenge after the Champions League exit and defeated Chartres away with a six-goal-margin. Nantes trails PSG by three points with eight rounds remaining of Rivera´s historic season.
Raphaël Caucheteux, playing for Saint-Raphael Var, was the first player to pass 2 000 goals in June 2021.
