PSG land German star Renārs Uščins on long-term deal

Paris Saint-Germain have secured one of Europe’s brightest young talents. German international Renārs Uščins will join the French giants from TSV Hannover-Burgdorf ahead of the 2027/28 season after signing a contract running until June 2029.

Paris Saint-Germain have officially confirmed the signing of Renārs Uščins, ending months of speculation surrounding the future of the 24-year-old right back.

Uščins will remain with Bundesliga side TSV Hannover-Burgdorf for the upcoming season before making the move to Paris in the summer of 2027. The deal runs until June 2029.

Widely regarded as one of the biggest talents in world handball, Uscins has developed into one of the Bundesliga’s standout backcourt players in recent seasons. The German international enjoyed a breakthrough on the international stage by helping Germany win Olympic silver at Paris 2024, where he was also named the tournament’s best right back.

“We are delighted to welcome Renars to Paris Saint-Germain Handball,” said PSG general manager Thierry Omeyer.

“Despite his young age, he has already demonstrated all his qualities in the Bundesliga as well as with the German national team. He is a modern player, capable of making a significant impact in all areas of the game. His profile fits perfectly with our ambitions for the coming years.”

Uščins is equally excited about the next step in his career.

“Joining Paris Saint-Germain Handball represents a very important step in my career. It is one of Europe’s biggest clubs, with great ambitions and a winning culture. I am looking forward to discovering this new environment, meeting my future teammates and giving my all to help the team achieve its goals,” he said.
