Mohammed Sanad new in Istres Provence

Mohammed Sanad needs no presentation for the fans in Starligue. The Egyptian right wing prepares for a club change and joins Istres Provence during the summer.

Sanad has been a profile in Usam Nimes since 2017 with more than 1 500 goals in the net for the top flight club. His next challenge promises to make the 34 year-old a prominent player for Istres.

– Personally, I want to prove that I’m still here, that I’m up to the task, get back on track, take on a new challenge, and prepare for the 2026 African Cup of Nations. Collectively, I want to help Istres reach a new level in StarLigue and contribute to the growth of the project, he says to the club webpage after signing a contract for the upcoming season.

Istres finished in place number 14, just above the relegation zone in 2024/25. Incidentally Sanad currently holds the same position in the current all-time goal scorer list in Starligue.

The coach Bastien Cismondo presents high hopes for the newcomer within the team.

– First, a driving role in the locker room. He’s played almost more StarLigue games than the rest of the squad combined. His professionalism and exemplary behavior will serve as a guide for our young players. On the pitch, we expect him to do what he’s always done: score, make the most of the ball, make a difference in wide open spaces and on penalties, the coach says to the club website.
