Grandveau linked with Metz move following Nantes bankruptcy

Since Nantes declared bankruptcy, many players are in dire need of a new club. One of those players is French talent Léna Grandveau. According to L’Equipe, Metz Handball is among the clubs hoping to land the IHF Best Youth Player of 2023.

Léna Grandveau has quickly made a name for herself in the handball world. Despite being only 21 years old, her resume is impressive, boasting both a silver medal from the 2024 Olympics and a gold medal from the 2023 World Championship.

Since 2022, the playmaker has represented Neptunes de Nantes. However, with the club declaring bankruptcy during the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Grandveau, along with many other players, is now searching for a new club.

Metz Handball, the reigning French champions, has now, according to L’Equipe, made a move to sign one of the biggest talents in handball. The club offers both Champions League handball and the opportunity to play alongside French internationals she knows well (Valentini, Granier, Bouktit, Flippes).

However Metz may face competition from Danish, Hungarian, or Romanian clubs, which have greater financial power. The 21-year-old will have to decide whether to stay in France or leave her home country.
