Draguignan Var Handball have been plunged into a major off-court crisis, with club president Fanny Fournon-Dejean announcing her resignation just months after taking charge of the newly promoted Proligue side.
Fournon-Dejean, who succeeded Loïc Gérard as president in June, says her decision stems from what she describes as serious ethical breaches within the club’s management in the period leading up to her appointment.
According to reports from French media, she has also confirmed that several legal complaints have been filed. Fournon-Dejean has so far declined to publicly disclose the full details of the allegations, leaving questions about the club’s internal management and the conduct of certain officials unanswered.
Her departure comes at a particularly sensitive moment for Draguignan. The club secured a historic promotion to Proligue after several years of steady progress and had begun a major restructuring process to adapt to professional handball.
The club’s budget had been increased to €1.5 million, while investments were also being made in staffing and youth development as the Dragons looked to establish themselves at a higher level.
