Jovanka Radicevic is still world-class, André Gomes’s time in Saudi Arabia was cut short, and Óli Mittún looks ready for the 2024 European Championship – that is 3 things we learned this week.
Jovanka Radicevic is still a world-class player
Well, if anyone thought differently they definitely learned this week that Jovanka Radicevic is still a player of the highest class. She ended her national team career after the bronze medal at the Euros a bit more than a year ago and therefor not all of us get to see her play as much as before, but Radicevic is still one of the best right wings in the world. When Krim defeated Rapid Bucharest 25–24 in the Champions League the Montenegrin star scored a buzzer-beater that sealed the game for the Slovenian powerhouse.
André Gomes time in Saudi Arabia was cut short
My eyebrows were raised when the Portuguese left back decided to leave Europe to play in the Saudi Arabian club Al Safa. And I guess my eyebrows weren’t alone. Rumors circulated about the high salary that the 25-year-old would receive and he would of course be a huge star over there. But now, around the half mark of the season, Al Sara declared that they had terminated the contract of Gomes. No explanation were given and Gomes has still not been signed by a new club.
Óli Mittún looks ready for the 2024 European Championship
Almost two weeks ago Óli Mittún limped out of IK Sävehof’s game in the Swedish domestic league. The Faroe Islands wonderkid looked dejected after he seemed to twist his ankle after an awkward fall. But the 18-year-old is built different and is already back playing for his national team. So all fans of the Faroe Islands team, a team that is set to make their debut at the Euros, can relax. Mittún scored three goals when the Faroe Islands beat Belgium 34–29 in a practice game this weekend.
