The Croatian vice champions and European League team, RK Nexe, has decide to terminate the contract of head coach Branko Tamše.
The board decided to fire Tamše and his assistant after Saturday’s loss versus Sesvete. This was the club’s first loss in the Croatian championship. Tamše has been with the club since 2021 and led them to the European League Final Four in 2022.
Tamše has an history of being fired; his last job before Nexe was with their rivals RK Zagreb, where he coached for four games before being forced to leave the club. According to a Croatian news site, Jutarnji, the club waited for a mistake by Tamše so that they could fire him. They believed they needed a more experienced, as they had outgrown Tamše. Juarnji reports that the iconic Croatian coach, Lino Cervar is mentioned as one of the candidates to replace him.
The Croatian team plays Gorenje away in their second game of the Main round in European League tomorrow, Tuesday.
