Economic turmoil seems to accompany several clubs in the Romanian League. After Gloria Buzau´s decision to withdraw the club from top flight participation, local media outlets claims to find for more clubs in a strained position.
Gloria Buzau, currently fourth in the men’s Liga National announced tragic news earlier this week. Having failed to secure enough funds, Buzau´s webpage communicated that the women and men’s teams as well as youth teams will cancel their 2024/25 campaigns.
”The decision to withdraw the teams was made due to the restrictions caused by the fiscal and budgetary measures approved by regulatory acts in force, which led to the impossibility of allocating the financial resources necessary to continue the activity”, writes Gloria Buzau.
Fanatik has dug deeper in the sad situation and presents four more clubs with pending economic difficulties.
CSM Focsani with a men’s top flight team is said to be ”on the verge of bankruptcy”. Also the vice-champion CSM Constanta, renowned for many European seasons is having issues concerning the finances. Minaur Baia Mare, whose men’s team is chasing the first spot while the women is placed fourth might be facing a smaller budget, according to information from Fanatik.
