Sander Sagosen had been rumored to join Aalborg next season, but it is now confirmed that the Danish powerhouse is buying out the Norwegian star from Kolstad mid-season. Sagosen could make his debut as early as this weekend in the Danish Final 4.
The Norwegian star has been a key player for Kolstad but was rumored to play for Aalborg in the next season. Now, it is confirmed that the transfer will happen immediately rather than in the summer.
Sander Sagosen has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, meaning the 29-year-old returns to Aalborg, where he previously played from 2014 to 2017. He could make his debut in this weekend’s Danish Final 4, provided the injury he sustained during the World Championship in January does not hold him back.
– I have never hidden the fact that some of the best years of my handball career were the ones I spent in Aalborg. I have many great memories from my time here, so I am truly happy to have the opportunity to return to the club, which has grown tremendously since I was last here – both financially and in its ambitions, Sagosen said to Aalborg’s official website.
– That’s why I really hope I can contribute to the club achieving its goals—not only winning the Danish championship but also claiming the Champions League title, which they came very close to last year. Now, I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates, putting on the red jersey, and most of all, once again experiencing the thousands of amazing Aalborg fans.
