Nykøbing Falster Håndbold have secured one of European handball’s most promising young playmakers, with Faroese international Jana Mittún set to join the Danish club from rivals Viborg HK in 2027.
The 22-year-old has signed a three-year contract with NFH, keeping her at the club until the summer of 2030. She will officially make the move on July 1, 2027.
Mittún joined Viborg from Faroese club H71 in 2023 and has since established herself in the Danish league. She has also become an important player for the Faroe Islands, featuring at both EHF EURO 2024 and the 2025 World Championship.
The centre back has attracted attention with her speed, creativity and ability to both score and create opportunities for her teammates. She has also gained European experience with Viborg in the EHF European League.
NFH head coach Niels Agesen believes Mittún’s playing style is a natural fit for the club.
“Jana is an incredibly exciting player who has already shown that she can perform at a high international level,” Agesen said. “She is strong in one-on-one situations, has a good eye for her teammates and the ability to decide situations herself.”
For Mittún, the opportunity to play a bigger role in an ambitious project was an important factor behind the decision.
“NFH have high ambitions and play an energetic, creative and fast style of handball, which suits me very well,” Mittún said.
“I want to fight for the biggest positions while continuing my own development.”
