After eight seasons at the highest European level, Danish star Jacob Holm is heading home. The double world champion has signed a four-year deal with Skjern Håndbold, according to a press release by the Danish club.
Holm, 30, says in the press release that the timing feels right both professionally and personally. After successful years in Berlin and Paris, he and his family are ready to return to Denmark, and Skjern was the project that motivated him the most. The left back believes he is in the prime of his career and is determined to help build something special with the green shirts over the next four seasons.
The move also carries emotional value. Holm played youth handball in Skjern and grew up watching league matches at Skjern Bank Arena. Now, that arena will be his home court through 2029.
Sporting director Thomas Klitgaard calls the signing more than just a reinforcement. In his view, Holm’s experience from the biggest international stages sends a clear signal about the club’s ambitions and the direction of its long-term project.
Holm will wear jersey number 5 and joins the club this summer.
