Henrik Toft Hansen looks forward to another season in Mors-Thy HB. When 2025/26 comes to an end, the prominent pivot has decided to leave the handball court, having played professionally for more than 20 years.
The webpage of Mors-Thy, the club to which Henrik Toft Hansen returned after leaving Paris Saint-Germain two years ago brings the news of the decision.
Toft Hansen´s succesfull career comprises for example gold medals in all major championship (Olympics 2016, Euro 2017 and World Cup 2019). During the ten years (2013-23) he played abroad he could lift trophies in Champions League (HSV Hamburg), Bundesliga (SG Flensburg-Handewitt) and won titles repeatedly with PSG.
– It has been a boyhood dream to be allowed to play handball and make a living from my hobby for over 20 years. And I am happy that I am allowed to finish where my career really took off – in Mors-Thy Handball, he says to the club webpage.
In further talk with TV2, having a third child a few months ago played a part in the process to end the career within a year.
Furthermore, Toft Hansen has also worked hard in training and games for many years.
– It’s a big decision, but I can feel that it’s the right one. Over the past few years, my body has sent some signals that it’s time to stop, and I can’t ignore them anymore, and therefore it’s time to say goodbye to my active career, Toft Hansen adds to the club website.
