It was an early top clash in the Danish league as Aalborg hosted GOG in the third round. The reigning champions Aalborg showed their class and secured an impressive 40–29 victory.
The match started as a close battle between the Danish handball giants, Aalborg and GOG. Both teams had played in the Champions League earlier in the week, but it didn’t show. It was full speed in both directions, and after just over ten minutes, the score was tied at 8–8.
The match felt wide open, but then Aalborg took complete control. With the help of strong defensive play, Fabian Norsten was able to make plenty of saves. At the same time Aalborg had plenty of attacking weapons, with goals coming from all over the court.
Aalborg was heading into halftime with a big lead, but with two minutes left in the first half, Felix Möller received a red card after a rough foul on Oli Mittun. GOG took advantage of the power play and managed to reduce Aalborg’s lead to five goals, 20–15 at halftime.
However, things got tough for GOG after the break. Oli Mittun remained in the locker room due to an injury, which significantly weakened the visitors’ attack. Aalborg had full control throughout the second half and, despite Möller’s red card, cruised to a dominant 40–29 victory.
