Aalborg reportedly targeting Claar or Skipagøtu

Aalborg Håndbold are reportedly looking at two of the biggest Nordic names in European handball as they plan for the future.

According to the Danish Instagram account Rygtebørs, both Felix Claar and Elias Ellefsen á Skipagøtu are “hot names” on Aalborg’s radar, with the club said to be in talks with both players. The report claims that Aalborg are looking to bring in one of the two playmakers, although both are also attracting interest from other clubs.

For Claar, a move back to Aalborg would represent a return to familiar surroundings. The Swedish international spent three seasons with the Danish giants between 2020 and 2023. Claar left Aalborg for SC Magdeburg in 2023 and has since established himself as one of Europe’s leading playmakers. His current contract reportedly runs until 2028.

Skipagøtu, meanwhile, has been at THW Kiel since 2023 after three seasons with IK Sävehof. The Faroese centre back has developed into a key player in Kiel and was named Young World Handballer of the Year in 2024. His current contract runs until June 2027.

Aalborg’s reported interest in the duo comes as the club appears to be targeting established international stars. Rygtebørs also reported in June that Aalborg were in advanced talks with Magnus Saugstrup.

If the latest report proves accurate, the Danish club could therefore be preparing another major signing – with Claar or Skipagøtu potentially becoming the next headline addition to an already ambitious project.
