Swedish head coach Tomas Axnér has announced the squad for the upcoming matches against Hungary, highlighting the return of defender Anna Lagerquist to the national team.
Sweden will face Hungary in two games in Tatabanya this September. The first match, unofficial, takes place on September 18, followed by the official game on September 20.
Defensive stalwart Anna Lagerquist returns to the national team for the first time since 2023. Twice named Swedish Handball Player of the Year, she has played 117 senior internationals and participated in nine major championships. Lagerquist missed both the Olympics and the European Championship last year due to an ACL injury.
– I’m really excited to be back with the national team. It was a bit strange to watch the team on TV during the championships, but now I feel completely ready after my knee injury. It’s extra special to put on the national jersey again and represent Sweden, Lagerquist said.
