Barca became the last team in when IHF finalized the setup for the Men’s Club World Championship. The ”Blaugrana” joins eight other participants in Cairo 26 September to 2 October.
The nine clubs, presented on IHF´s website come from all handball-playing continents. Barca was given a Wild Card, thus the last-minute access but the Spanish super side travel with confidence a few months into the season.
The final in 2024 was played with Veszprem KC and SC Magdeburg in an European duel and both the Hungarian champion and the Bundesliga giant join in for another try.
All in all, only one team is different from last year’s lineup. Sharjah SC, who lifted the trophy in the Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship, is a true newcomer also being the first team from the United Arab Emirates to compete in tournament, according to IHF.
The teams will be divided into groups of three, with the first placed and the best of the second placed teams advancing to semifinal.
