Norwegian international Kent Robin Tønnesen is reportedly heading back to his home country, with TV 2 reporting that the 35-year-old has signed for Fjellhammer ahead of the 2027/28 season.
The right back will leave SG Flensburg-Handewitt when his contract expires in the summer of 2027. His next destination is now expected to be the Norwegian top flight, Elkjøp-ligaen.
According to TV 2, Tønnesen has signed for Fjellhammer. The broadcaster has not been able to reach the player or Fjellhammer head coach Kristian Bliznac for comment, meaning the move has yet to be officially confirmed by the parties involved.
Tønnesen left Norwegian handball in 2012 and has since built an impressive career across Europe, representing clubs including IK Sävehof, HSG Wetzlar, Füchse Berlin, Veszprém, Pick Szeged, Paris Saint-Germain and Flensburg.
The left-handed back court player has also been a key figure for Norway’s national team, scoring 360 goals in 148 appearances. His most recent international tournament was the 2025 World Championship.
Fjellhammer currently sit eighth in the Norwegian top division. If confirmed, the signing would represent a major coup for the club, bringing home a player with extensive experience at the highest level of European handball.
