Veszprém HC have won the IHF Men’s Club World Championship for the second time after a dominant 42–33 victory over FC Barcelona in the final.
The Hungarian side took control early and raced into a 9–3 lead before going six goals ahead at half-time, 22–16. Former Barcelona goalkeeper Emil Nielsen played a key role against his old club and was later named Player of the Match.
Veszprém remained in control after the break and eventually secured a nine-goal victory. Hugo Descat led the scoring with ten goals as Xavi Pascual’s side claimed the title.
The 42–33 result also set new records for both the most goals scored by one team and the largest winning margin in an IHF Men’s Club World Championship final.
Al Ahly secured the bronze medal after defeating Egyptian rivals Zamalek 30–25 in the third-place match.
