Monday night delivered two Danish League matches. GOG claimed top spot in the table after defeating second-placed Ribe-Esbjerg 36-31. SonderjyskE followed up their surprising cup win with another shock, winning 31-30 away against Fredericia.
After a surprising cup exit, GOG came out looking for revenge as they took on Ribe-Esbjerg. Both teams stood on eleven points beforehand, with first place in the table up for grabs.
The home side got off to a good start, with Swedish Karl Wallinius scoring a couple of early goals. But the fun wasn’t going to last long for the home fans. GOG quickly got into the game, and it only took a couple of minutes before the scoreline was flipped in GOG’s favour.
Esbjerg fought to stay in the game, but after a three-goal run in the second half, the game was decided. Two big points for GOG as they stay unbeaten after seven games.
Another team that looks like they have found their rhythm is SonderjyskE. After a somewhat shaky start to the league season, the club has managed two big wins in a couple of days. First knocking GOG out of the cup and now beating Fredericia away from home in a one-goal thriller.
