Paris Saint-Germain have strengthened their squad with the signing of Icelandic international Bjarki Már Elísson. The experienced left wing arrives from One Veszprém on a one-season deal to provide immediate cover following Mathieu Grébille’s long-term injury.
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the signing of Bjarki Már Elísson for the 2026/27 season. The 36-year-old Icelandic left wing joins the French champions from One Veszprém HC, adding both quality and experience to the squad.
The move comes after Mathieu Grébille suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, leaving PSG in need of an experienced replacement ahead of the new campaign. Elísson is expected to step straight into the rotation as the Paris club prepares for another domestic title challenge and a push for the EHF Champions League.
Elísson brings a wealth of experience from across Europe. After beginning his career in Iceland with Selfoss and HK Kópavogur, he established himself in the Bundesliga with spells at ThSV Eisenach, Füchse Berlin, and TBV Lemgo Lippe, before moving to Hungarian powerhouse One Veszprém.
The Iceland international said he is eager to begin the next chapter of his career in the French capital.
“Joining Paris Saint-Germain Handball is a great honour. It is one of Europe’s biggest clubs with huge ambitions. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and do everything I can to help the team achieve its goals,” Elísson said after completing the move.
