Sønderjyske appear set to add more experience and international quality to their squad.
According to Danish outlet RYGTEBØRS, the club is working on a deal to bring Reinier Taboada back to the Danish league. The Cuban-born Dutch international currently plays for Benfica but is reportedly on his way to Sønderjyske ahead of the upcoming season.
Taboada is no stranger to Danish handball. The 29-year-old left back previously spent two seasons with Fredericia HK, where he played an important role in the club’s rise and helped secure a Danish championship silver medal before moving to Portugal in 2024.
Since joining Benfica, Taboada has continued to establish himself as a key player at both club and international level. Known for his powerful shooting and physical presence, he has also become a regular fixture for the Netherlands national team, representing the country at major international tournaments.
If completed, the move would represent a significant signing for Sønderjyske, who have been active on the transfer market as they look to strengthen their squad for the coming campaign.
Neither Sønderjyske nor Benfica have officially confirmed the reported transfer.
