Just one season after reaching the Danish Handball League for the first time, HØJ have been relegated following defeat in the relegation play-offs against KIF Kolding.
The ambitious Danish club invested heavily ahead of the season and attracted several high-profile names, including Sweden international Hampus Wanne and former Danish international Michael Damgaard. Despite the major investment, HØJ failed to secure survival in the top division.
KIF Kolding sealed the decisive victory in the play-off series and sent HØJ straight back down to the second tier after only one season in the league.
HØJ’s relegation comes despite the club’s long-term ambitions of establishing itself among Denmark’s elite. The club has attracted attention in recent years through aggressive recruitment and plans for a new arena project.
The relegation is expected to raise questions about the future of several star players already signed for next season, including Jannick Green, Axel Månsson and Lasse Andersson, who were due to join the club as part of the continued project.
