Top 5 left wings Men’s Euros 2026: “Still one of the best”

The left wing position is stacked with elite talent heading into Men’s Euros 2026. From proven superstars to rising forces, these five players combine scoring, intelligence, and versatility at the very highest level.

Hugo Descat (France)

He has not been the undisputed first choice at Veszprem during the autumn season, largely because Bjarki Mar Elisson has enjoyed something of a resurgence and reached levels we have not seen from him in years. That said, Descat is still one of the best, if not the very best, left wings in the world. Clinical in front of goal, a strong penalty shooter, and always willing to take responsibility.

Emil Jakobsen (Denmark)

When he plays for Flensburg, he scores goals for fun. And I’m not saying there is often a scoring drought for Jakobsen with the national team, but we are probably still waiting for those truly outstanding performances in major finals. Jakobsen IS one of the best players in the world in his position, yet the feeling remains that he has even more to give in the biggest matches.

Orri Freyr Þorkelsson (Iceland)

A player who was nowhere near lists like this just a couple of years ago, but who has taken huge steps in his development recently. A reliable scorer for Sporting and now the first-choice left wing for the national team. Something tells me this will not be the last time Þorkelsson appears on a list like this.

Ian Barrufet (Spain)

The 21-year-old is back at Barcelona, his boyhood club, after spending last season on loan at Melsungen, where he was a major success. Barrufet does most things well – excellent in finishing situations, strong on the fast break, and also a high-level defensive player capable of covering multiple positions. And on top of that, he is underrated.

Dylan Nahi (France)

Looking for a physically dominant left wing? Dylan Nahi is your man. Need a left wing who can help left backs or centre backs rest defensively? Call Nahi. Not the best finisher in the world, but incredibly skilled and important in so many other aspects of the game. And a perfect complement to Descat.
