Knee injury stops Emil Madsen´s season

The Danish back court player in THW Kiel, Emil Madsen was injured in the early stages of 2025/26. Now, the star club reports further negative development, knee surgery and the 24-year-old is out for the rest of the season.

Madsen´s injury occurred during training camp with zebra team. The first news of the dignity of the right knee situation involved rehabilitation for the rest of the calendar year.

– We initially opted for conservative treatment to spare Emil surgery and get him back on the handball court as gently as possible says Kiel’s team physician Philip Lübke to the club webpage.

– During his rehabilitation, Emil did everything he could to be able to help THW Kiel again as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we all had to acknowledge that the conservative approach didn’t lead to the desired outcome. Therefore, surgery was unavoidable, Lübke continues.

While Madsen starts recovery after the operation that took place last week Kiel might need to reinforce the squad.

– However, a short-term signing only makes sense if it truly benefits us from a sporting perspective and is financially viable, says the managing director Viktor Szilagyi to the club website.
