Spain and Germany compete for U19 glory

With the medal matches remaining of all the Women’s 19 Euro Spain and Germany are just a step away from true success. The bronze match preceding the final will be a red and white duel, Austria takes on Denmark.

On quarterfinal day in Podgorica Spain completely locked down Croatia allowing only 11 goals while producing 23 in winning attack mode. Germany had a high-scoring run to catch up with Montenegro in the second half and defeating the host nation, 35–33.

Austria managed a surprise and knocked out France from the top four, while Denmark had a tight battle with Hungary for the first half. Despite the final score, 20-19 Denmark controlled the later part of the game.

Chiara Rohr made nine goals for Germany who had the upper hand versus Denmark and the celebrations were well deserved as Germany could summarize 37–31 in another good game of the tournament.

Spain comes from winning last year’s Youth world championship. Whichever team wins, it will be the first trophy triumph in the U19 Euro history.
