Record audience in Men’s Youth World Championship playoff

Egypt battled it out with Spain in front of an impressive 22 150 spectators. With Spain as the winner the successful path continued to the final on Sunday with Germany as the remaning other title contender.

IHF gladly reports the attendance record which highlighted the U19 championship Thursday night in Cairo. Spain were two goals ahead in the end and also managed to set Sweden back in the semifinal. Quality saves from David Failde Fuentes and good effect on the 5-1-defence made Spain increase the lead in the second half, 33–30 at the final whistle.

Germany laid the ground from the start against Denmark with Rasmus Ankermann, Jan Grüner and Tim Schröder scoring four times each while the goalkeeper Finn Knaack was awarded the player of the match award.

The reigning champion, Spain are accompanied by Germany, who was won two medals in the ten previous editions.
