Germany ran away from Uruguay to win the second game in the group stage. The host nation had to practice some patience to withstand the long attacks of Uruguay but soon found the method for 38–12.
Uruguay hit the wall and lost a lot of duels already in the beginning. Thus, Germany could create a gap merely by running towards easy goals, slightly helped by Uruguay missing out on some penalty opportunities.
Somehow the doomed to defeat team found a way, just like in the opening game, to come back and win some ground. Germany lacked some concentration and patience with no more than two or three goals plus mid-first half.
Still, the change in game development was very temporary. Annika Lott, back in the match squad for the first time in the WC secured a bit more stable lead via 9–4. Nieke Kühne improved the overall efficiency for the home favorite and Germany reached the break in a comfortable eight goal lead.
A spot in the main round seems to await the host nation at the end of the evening after two straight wins.
The second half was completely without worries with a lot of place to find room for attacks and the strength to stop the opponent.
Nina Engel and Kühne reached seven goals each and shared the title as top scorer. Germany´s last game in Stuttgart will be played Sunday evening versus Serbia.
Uruguay–Germany 12–38 (7–15)
