TV2: Helle Thomsen new national coach in Denmark

Denmark seems close to appointing a new national coach, the successor to Jesper Jensen. According to TV2 the federation has found the most prominent option for the work – Helle Thomsen.

Thomsen had some short stints in charge of Sweden about ten years ago. She moved on to Netherlands with three championship medals – silver in Euro 2016, bronze in WC 2017 and bronze in Euro 2018 as a result.

The club world has attracted the 54-year-old further, so far. With more and more significant jobs in the Danish league to account for her leadership qualities, Thomsen tried CSM Bucharest 2017, Norwegian Molde HK in the pre-pandemic years and led Neptunes de Nantes until the club folded because of economical reasons.

In 2024/25 Thomsen has returned to CSM Bucharest with an upcoming quarterfinal in Champions League to vouch for team development.

TV2 sources should put an end to Denmark’s three month-long search for a new coach. Jensen announced his decision to step down in January.
