Czechia has a domestic duo in charge of the women’s national team. IHF writes about the coach change when Tomas Hlavaty and Daniel Curda replaced Bent Dahl.
Czechia reached 15th position in Euro 2024 and found some new voices and trainer ideas to be beneficial in the quest for a World Championship spot.
Hlavaty and Curda step in way ahead of the April duel versus Ukraine when the championship ticket will be awarded.
– Tomas Hlavaty and Daniel Curda are coaches who combine experience from both men’s and women’s handball with modern methods. Their vision is not aimed at short-term success, but also at the long-term development of Czech women’s handball, including the education of talented players in cooperation with clubs, says the President of the Czech Handball Federation, Ondrej Zdrahala according to IHF.
While Hlavaty had to leave Vipers Kristiansand after the economic crash, the slovak coach will divide his time stating next season with an assignment in Ludwigsburg HB.
Curda previously worked close with Dahl in Czechia and provides continuity.
— We want to build strong collective values. During my coaching career, I have worked with players and coaches from different cultures and gradually formed my own view of handball and its development. I would like to use this experience in the national team and combine it with our conditions. I am looking forward to the first contact with the team and the start of working together, says Hlavatý to the webpage of the International federation.
