Denmark has selected a squad of 16 players for the World Cup starting in around three weeks time. Three debutants join experienced players as Anne Mette Hansen and Althea Reinhardt under Helle Thomsen´s reign.
– We have selected an exciting squad with lots of quality, which we are sure will do well at the World Cup, the coach says to the federation website.
Thomsen´s first championship with the national team follows Jesper Jensens successful period, including two medals (Euro silver and Olympic bronze) during 2024.
For the goalkeepers Althea Reinhardt (Odense HB) and Anna Kristensen (Team Esbjerg) bring CL routine, though Reinhardt has still to make her comeback after a knee injury for almost two months.
Laura Borg (back court, Viborg HK), Sofie Bardrum (pivot, Krim Ljubljana og Nanna Hinnerfeldt (pivot, Nykøbing Falster) prepare to make debut in the championship. In contrast, Hansen will start in red and white for her 13th major tournament.
– Nanna has the strength to be in both central defense and attack, while Bardrum is an offensive force and can cover a full-back in defense. Laura Borg is in because of her physique and ability to stand in central defense, Thomsen says about the capacity of the trio to the federation website.
