Four teams have advanced to phase 2 of the World Championship qualifiers, marking the start of the journey to the 2025 IHF Women’s World Championship. Lithuania, Kosovo, Israel, and Italy emerged victorious in phase 1, each finishing their weekend matchups undefeated.
Twelve teams competed in phase 1, divided into four groups of three. Lithuania narrowly defeated Greece with a last-second goal by Vakare Damuleviciute, while Kosovo’s Leonora Demaj led her team to victory with an impressive 24 goals across two games. Israel topped Group 3 by defeating Finland, and Italy controlled both games in Group 4, advancing for the first time since hosting the tournament in 2001.
Therefore, Lithuania, Kosovo, Israel and Italy sealed the tickets for the the Qualification Phase 2, where Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Montenegro, Spain, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, Czechia, Poland, Serbia, Austria, Switzerland, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Iceland, Slovakia, Portugal, Türkiye and Faroe Islands await.
