Denmark ended Norway’s dominance in the Women’s EURO Cup with 34–30 victory in Sunday’s final, claiming the trophy in their first-ever participation in the competition.
Helle Thomsen’s side led for most of the final and eventually secured an eighth consecutive win. Goalkeeper Anna Kristensen was once again decisive, making 15 saves also playing a key role in the semi-final against Romania.
Trine Jensen Østergaard led Denmark’s scoring with eighth goals, while Emma Friis scored the decisive goal to make it 32–28 late in the game.
Norway, who had won all 19 of their previous EURO Cup matches and the two previous editions (in 2022 and 2024), were unable to find their usual rhythm against the Danish defense. Henny Reistad scored ten goals for Norway and finished the competition as its top scorer with 56 goals.
The victory marks Denmarks’s first EURO Cup title och comes ahead of the Women’s EURO 2026, where the Scandinavian rivals could meet again.
